From Ballater by car
Drive east along the A93 to Dinnet, turn right onto Dinnet Bridge road and then turn left after crossing the river onto the B976. Follow the road for approx. 6 miles. You will pass a saw mill on your left. Go over The Bridge of Esk with Glen Tanar and riding stables on your right. When you reach the sign for Birse (Aboyne bridge will be on your left ) go past the bridge but do not turn off to Aboyne. Follow the B976, you will pass horse stables on your left and many houses along the road on your right. A sign for Birsebeg and Balfour on your right, do not turn right, continue along the B976 until you see Roadside Cottage on the right. Slow down and shortly after the speed restriction signs, The Coo Hoose is the next drive on the right.
From Banchory by car
Travelling through Aboyne on the A93 take the South Deeside road B968 (B976) on the left, opposite the War Memorial building and Victory Hall. Follow the road around the Aboyne Green and pass The Boat Inn. At the T junction turn left over the bridge and at the end of the road turn left on the B976 (B974). You will pass horse stables on your left and many houses along the road on your right. A sign for Birsebeg and Balfour on your right, do not turn right, continue along the B976 until you see Roadside Cottage on the right. Slow down and shortly after the speed restriction signs, The Coo Hoose is the next drive on the right.
By Air
There are regular flights to Aberdeen Airport. From the airport a taxi will cost approximately £60 – £70. If you are hiring a car, driving from the airport takes about one hour. Follow the signs to Aboyne on the A93.
By Train
You can get a train to Stonehaven or Aberdeen and either get a taxi or hire a car.
